Acerca de Lupe Fiasco

With four consecutive No. 1 albums on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart, rapper/producer Lupe Fiasco has been on a roll since his 2006 debut. In 2012, Fiasco released Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, echoing the success of his previous releases and spawning a massive hit with the multi-platinum anthem "Battle Scars."  Fiasco, née Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, was raised in Chicago, where he developed an interest in hip-hop and began rapping in junior high school, eventually adopting the name Lupe Fiasco and recording songs in his father's basement. After a brief stint with hip hop group Da Pak, Fiasco met rapper Jay Z, who helped get him a record deal with Atlantic Records. With several mixtapes under his belt, Fiasco premiered the single "Kick, Push" in advance of his 2006 debut album Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor.  The album peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and received three Grammy nominations, winning Best Urban/Alternative Performance for "Daydreamin' (feat. Jill Scott)." His gold-certified sophomore album Lupe Fiasco's The Cool came out in 2007, earning him four more Grammy nominations and remaining at No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums chart for nine weeks on the strength of its lead single "Superstar." Fiasco has toured in support of Kanye West, N.E.R.D. and Rihanna in North America, as well as headlined his own tours.  On the road in 2013, he has been wowing ticket buyers with his forward-thinking sound and energetic sets of new, old, and unreleased material.
