MIRACLES OF MODERN SCIENCE:

Miracles of Modern Science play uniquely infectious chamber pop that combines string arrangements, rocking rhythms, and light-hearted lyrics. At the band's live shows lead singer Evan Younger sings with unabashed enthusiasm while the group’s makes audiences swoon with gorgeous four-part harmonies on tracks like “I Found Space” and “Dear Pressure”. Drummer Serge Terentev gives the band a swinging rock beat, which perfectly supports the lively, inventive sound of their string quartet. With the hilarious new music video “Swipe” becoming a viral sensation, Miracles of Modern Science will thrill classically-trained musicians and casual listeners alike with their exciting and humorous blend of classical and pop.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Somewhat at odds with Miracles of Modern Science’s classical tendencies, founding members Evan Younger (bass, lead vocals) and Josh Hirshfeld (mandolin) met on Facebook in 2004. The two added Princeton classmates Geoff McDonald (cello), Kieran Ledwidge (violin), and Tyler Pines (drums) to create a winning combination of string quartet sophistication and driving rock rhythms. After graduating from Princeton in 2008 the band relocated to Brooklyn and released their self-titled EP, which earned praise from respected music publications like Consequence of Sound and Spin Magazine. The full-length Dog Year followed in 2011, and around that time the group began producing YouTube videos to share their original material while on tour. Their inventive videos of contemporary pop covers like Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” racked up over two million views, dramatically expanding their fanbase. In 2013 original drummer Pines was replaced by Serge Terentev, who made his debut on the band’s music video for “Dear Pressure”.
