Acerca de Ramones
The Ramones formed in 1974 and are what many historians consider to be the very first punk rock band. Their stripped-down style brought a refreshing new attitude to a rock world that was dominated by glitter and long, overindulgent guitar solos. They are cited as one of the most influential bands of the 21st century. Their concerts treated ticket holders to rapid-fire sets of two-minute songs played one after another at a breakneck pace, unrelenting for the better part of one hour. Each song started with a signature 1-2-3-4 count off, and it was off to the races as power chords strummed down at blinding speed and melodic anthems were sung with equal measures of rancor and passion. Their final studio album, Adios Amigos, was released in 1995, and they played their final live show in 1996.
The Ramones were formed in Forest Hills, New York -- a suburb of Queens. They represented working-class America and based their music on frustration, confusion and alienation. They experienced numerous lineup changes throughout a career that spanned over 20 years. Tommy Erdelyi, more commonly known as Tommy Ramone, is the only surviving original member. Later members Marky, Richie and C.J. continue to tour in their respective bands, paying tribute to their previous band by playing songs by the Ramones. Marky has currently teamed up with notorious entertainer Andrew W.K. to form Marky Ramone's Blitzkreig. The outfit is a Ramones tribute act, where sets of 30 or more songs are often played in one night. They toured throughout the United States and Europe in 2013. The founding members of the Ramones, along with Marky, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2002. Their legacy lives on as their music continues to inspire people worldwide.
