Acerca de Skylar Grey
As a singer-songwriter, Skylar Grey's resume covers pop, rock, rap and hip hop. The singer gained major notoriety for providing guest vocals for Fort Minor, Diddy and Dr. Dre, but she’s most notable for penning the single “Love the Way You Lie,” performed by Eminem and Rihanna, which debuted at No. 2 on the charts. Grey’s unflinching songwriting can be found in the performances she gives on her 2013 Don’t Look Down Tour. A powerhouse of honest emotion, Grey gives concert goers a poetic performance that’s backed by hard rock guitars. Ticket buyers engage with Grey’s raw vocals and stripped-down intimacy. The tour boasted singles from her 2013 album Don’t Look Down, featuring the demo “Love the Way You Lie Pt. III.” Other album singles include “Back from the Dead,” featuring Big Sean and Travis Barker, and “C’Mon Let Me Ride,” featuring Eminem.
Grey started her musical career as Holly Brook, a shortened version of her given name, Holly Brook Hafermann. Her debut album Like Blood Like Honey was released in 2006, launching her on a tour with Jamie Callum, k.d. Lang and Duncan Sheik. She later lent vocals to Fort Minor’s 2006 hit “Where’d You Go,” which paved the way for other guest spots on Dr. Dre’s “I Need a Doctor,” Diddy and Dirty Money’s “Coming Home,” and Lupe Fiasco’s “Words I Never Said.” She changed her name to Skylar Grey, and it’s been nothing but success ever since. She earned five Grammy nominations in 2010, and in 2013, Don’t Look Down peaked at No. 8 in the Billboard 200 charts. It was one of the year's top-selling digital albums, and her song, “Slowly Freaking Out,” appeared on the soundtrack for the 2013 film The Host. Grey’s collaborative efforts are truly unique, creating a blend of heart-shattering lyrics infused with the entertaining sounds of rap and rock.
