Brent Cobb In Concert
Brent Cobb brings the same kind of unassuming Georgia charm to his concerts as he does to his records. When the singer/songwriter hits the stage with his mix of outlaw country, folk balladry, soul, and Southern rock, there's zero pretension involved.
Cobb simply delivers his songs in a manner that seems as natural as breathing, probably because crafting and delivering his distinctive brand of Americana is indeed as much of a second-nature, essential activity to Cobb as inhaling and exhaling.
Whether he's pounding out a good old country stomper like "Diggin' Holes;" a greasy, groove-based, R&B-infused tune like "Mornin's Gonna Come;" or a bittersweet, soulful ballad like "Shine On Rainy Day," Cobb infuses them all with an equal amount of honest, unguarded emotion.
Brent Cobb Background
Singer/songwriter Brent Cobb grew up in the tiny town of Ellaville, Georgia, where he led his own band by the time he was a teenager. A crucial connection early in his life was the one he made with his cousin Dave Cobb, who had moved to L.A. to work as a record producer.
Dave helped his cousin record his first album, 2006's 'No Place Left to Leave,' though the record wasn't widely distributed. A couple of years later, Brent made his way to Nashville, where he earned a songwriting contract with a publishing company and soon started writing tunes for other artists.
Between 2011 and the relaunching of his solo career in 2016, he landed songs on albums by some of the biggest country artists in Nashville, including Luke Bryan, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, and Kenny Chesney. But his heart was always in performing his own songs, and he cut another album with cousin Dave, who by then had become one of the most influential country producers around.
This time, they recorded for the hotshot producer's Elektra-owned imprint, Low Country Sound. 'Shine On Rainy Day' brought Cobb's blend of country, soul, folk, and rock influences to the wider world at last, and made it to the country Top 20. In 2018 he followed it up with 'Providence Canyon,' another outing overseen by Dave.
